Ever since Project Luminous’ first announcement at Star Wars Celebration Chicago last year, we have been speculating on what this possibly could be and how it would affect the future of Star Wars. The only details we received told us that this new story would be told through books and comic books. The mystery intensified at New York Comic-Con with the Star Wars panel when Lucafilm teased Project Luminous with the line:
“The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things… Until…Project Luminous, 2020.”
From this, fans began wondering if this was a new version of the Force. The beginning of the statement is a quote from Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: A New Hope and had long been all the explanation needed about the force. It was a magical, whimsical, and mysterious. Then The Phantom Menace. With the prequels came a new explanation for the Force that was muddled in pseudo science. This could be a “retcon” of sorts, bringing the Force back to it’s roots.
We will know more on Monday night, February 28th at 7pm PST. Clayton Sandell, ABC New correspondent, tweeted the reveal date with a Project Liminous logo. We are anxious for this big announcement and will bring you all the details as soon as they are revealed.
