GOG’s Revised Return Policy

The online video games retailer Good Old Games has always tried to make their customers feel valued and supported with their “Customer-first approach”. The controversial new changes to their return policy elevate this to a new level.”

@GOGcom – “We always believed in a ‘gamers-first’ approach and with this voluntary update to our Refund Policy you can get a full refund up to 30 days after purchasing a product, even if you downloaded, launched, and played it”

This is great for us as consumers because we can buy games that we are interested in but very skeptical about without the fear of wasting money on a game we won’t like. If we really do not like the game we can return it within 30 days. This can however be severally abused when consumers buy, beat and return games repeatedly. Developers have already shown concerns, and should this prove to be an issue they may chose to pull their games from the GOG store. In this regard GOG has already made it clear that they reserve the right to refuse any refund on a case by case basis and will do so to prevent abuse of their generous policies.

It sounds like they might need to lay down more limitations moving forward to help prevent abuse however if this is successful maybe we will see some of their competitors fallow in their footsteps.
