The sequel to the 80’s cult classic, Labyrinth, has found a new director with Scott Derrickson. The original film had a lackluster theater showing but over time fans came to appreciate the puppetry of Jim Henson and the efforts of the film’s villain played by David Bowie. With the growing interest and using the 80’s being so fashionable, it was a matter of time before we returned to the Labyrinth world. The Jim Henson Company and Tristar Pictures have been slowly working on this project starting in 2014. But they took a big step forward in grabbing a director.
Scott Derrickson has a filmography of visually important movies that proves this project is right up his ally. Doctor Strange and The Day The Earth Stood Still both sparked the imagination with reality-bending imagery. Exactly what is needed in the next Labyrinth.
