The Imagineers of Disney revealed on June 25th that Splash Mountain of both Disneyland and Disney World would be changed to a “The Princess and the Frog” ride. Splash Mountain is currently based on the 1946 film “Song of the South”. This movie has racist tones and depicts a dated image of plantation life. Disney does not allow the film on Disney + and it will not be released in future formats. The ride itself is based on the animated animals of the film.
“The Princess and the Frog” and Princess Tiana both deserve more attention. A delightful story that is reminiscent of Disney’s 90’s animation style. It’s an American princess blended with a fairytale classic. Outstanding music and new characters. These will be great elements for a new ride!
