Microsoft announced on June 26th that they will be closing their 82 retail locations, leaving four locations as “Microsoft Experience Centers”. The employees of these retail stores will be shifted to working from home as customer support and sales. Microsoft VP David Porter explains that recent stay at home orders have taught the company that their employees work well from home and have kept up productivity. The transition to online sales has also made the brick and mortar business model less profitable. The four locations that will transition to the Microsoft Experience Centers are London, Sydney, New York City, and the campus at Redmond in Washington.
