Xbox Store Posts a Call of Duty Alpha

We’ve discussed before through other leaks that the next Call of Duty is likely a Black Ops that takes place in the midst of the Cold War. Now we have another Call of Duty leak from the Microsoft Store (who has been very leaky lately) with a Call of Duty Alpa being called The Red Door.

The Red Door was posted on the Microsoft Store as a new Activision shooter with a massive 80GB download size, M rating, and a full description.

“There is more than one truth. If you go looking for answers, be ready to question everything and accept that nothing will ever be the same. The Red Door awaits, do you dare step through it?” -Red Door Discription on Microsoft Store

A new game from a big publisher is suspicious. When a new game is coming down the pipeline, the whole industry is aware of it months or even years ahead of time with betas, trailers, and reviews. More proof that this mysterious listing comes from SerialStation who noticed the ContentID contains the code string “COD2020INTALPHA1”. The last hint is from Reddit users. The track used for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the Rolling Stones song “Paint it Black” and has the line “I see a red door and I want it painted black.” A stretch but might lead to something.

This could be a new way to do Alpha testing, having the game falsely posted to a launcher and giving testers the key. But it’s odd that this would not be done through the Battle.net launcher that is used by AcitvsionBlizzard. They already run their Alphas and Betas through this system and it works fine.
