The latest EA game to join the Steam library is Star Wars: The Old Republic. Old Republic is an MMO RPG in the Star Wars universe that takes place 1,000 years before the events of the films.
The initial release in 2011 had a great start after the hype from long cinematic trailers, being related to Knights of the Old Republic, and the success of World of Warcraft. Unfortunately, the end game did not have the content players were expecting so the numbers dropped off quickly. The population stabilized after EA made the game free-to-play and continued with patches and expansions that addressed player concerns.
The game joining Steam will broaden it’s appeal as it benefits from the huge population on the platform. Also included are previous expansions like Rise of the Hutt Cartel and Shadow of Revan, all free.
This is a very well made game that does a great job exploring the world of Star Wars beyond simply Jedi vs Sith. It’s definitely worth playing!
