Constantin Film and director Johannes Roberts announced they are rebooting the Resident Evil film franchise with a new story more faithful to the Capcom horror game.
“With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences.”
Johannes Roberts to Deadline
Representing Constantin Film will be producer Robert Kulzer who produced the other Resident Evil movies
“After a dozen games, six live-action movies and hundreds of pages of fan fiction, we felt compelled to return to the year 1998, to explore the secrets hidden in the walls of the Spenser Mansion and Raccoon City.”
Robert Kulzer to Deadline
We also have our initial cast which includes a budget friendly roster of recognizable faces. Robbie Amell and Tom Hopper have both been surging after success on their shows. Neal McDonough is a staple for your villain line up. And Hannah John-Kamen is in the MCU as Ghost from Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The roles are familiar names to classic Resident Evil fans. Kaya Scodelario is playing Claire Redfield who is on the search for her brother Chris, being played by Robbie Amell. Jill Valentine is being played by Hannah and is a police special agent. Leon Kennedy, a federal counterterrorist agent, is being played by Avan Jogia and may be considered the most popular of the franchise. This talent alongside the promise to return to form will ensure a successful return for the Resident Evil franchise.
