Two Marvel movies announced the start of filming, Back Panther and Deadpool. Marvel is busy with a slate of movies and series currently in the works. All compressed or delayed due to COVID concerns. These announcements are a sign the big studios are looking to return to normality.

Black Panther lost their lead and soul when Chadwick Boseman passed away in August. As conversation for his replacement slowly began, one person became the obvious pick, Letitia Wright. She plays Black Panther’s sister and the tech wiz princess of Wakanda. Disney revealed today, Letitia will have a more prominent role in the new film. This feels like a soft confirmation that she will take the Black Panther mantle. In the comics, Shuri has filled in for her brother and performed admirably. She also has a Black Panther skin in Marvel’s Strike Force game. Filming for Black Panther 2 starts in July!

Deadpool 3 was up in the air as Fox joined the Disney family. Its hard R rating made it a tough fit for Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. Luckily, Ryan Reynolds came out earlier this year to reveal Disney is letting them do their movie their way. Today we got confirmation the film will be shooting for an R rating again. We also learn that they have added Bob’s Burgers producers Wendy Molyneaux and Lizzie Molyneaux-Loeglin to write the script. Production is in full swing, but we do not have a release date yet.
