WandaVision Spoiler-Free Review

WandaVision’s first two episodes were released on Disney+ Friday morning. This will be a spoiler-free review, so you’re safe to read.

As seen in the trailers, WandaVision is a replica of a sitcom that evolves through the generations of television. The first two are reminiscent of the 50’s classics like Bewitched or Leave it to Beaver. The typical hijinks ensue with miscommunication leading to mishaps. This alone is delightful as it takes you back to a forgotten version of tv. Initially, the simple jokes are off-putting, but I quickly fell right into the show. It was less a show about Scarlet Witch and The Vision and more a sitcom of a family trying to fit in.

The meta-plot is what locks me in. There is a mystery to what is going on and why our heroes are here. We are not even sure if they know why this world exists. We do see hints of something more, but we will hold off until we discuss spoilers. I am excited to see the mystery unfold every Friday.

Our grade for what we have so far is a solid “A”! The show was delightful and had me entertained with the primary plot while hooking me with the mystery. It avoids the “+” because it’s old fashion comedy can be disjointing to those unfamiliar with the format. All in all, this is an excellent way to kick off Phase 4 of the MCU.
