Amazon Games is opening a new studio in Montreal. The announcement comes weeks after the closure of Google’s Montreal studio. Amazon’s new CEO, Andy Jassy, pledges to continue their pursuits in gaming. Montreal will be the fourth Amazon studio, joining Orange County, San Diego, and Seattle.
Amazon Montreal’s first project will be an online multiplayer game. They are bringing in many veterans from Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six. Luc Bouchard will be Head of Production, Xavier Marquis is Creative Director, and Alexandre Remy will be Head of Content. All from the Rainbow Six team.
Amazon’s reaffirmed devotion is also good news for “New World” fans. They recently released a new patch update for the beta with positive reactions. The game suffered mismanagement and a change in direction but looks to be back on track.
