Virtual Olympic Series Announced

The first virtual Olympic event was announced this week in an attempt to bring eSports fans to the Olympics. The Olympic Virtual Series will take place from May 13 to June 23. Events include cycling, rowing, sailing, and motorsports.

“The Olympic Virtual Series is a new, unique Olympic digital experience that aims to grow direct engagement with new audiences in the field of virtual sports,” said IOC President Thomas Bach.

Each event will be handled by their perspective committee, with details coming later. The only confirmed game is Gran Turismo for the Motorsports event. Presumably, they will use the latest version, Gran Turismo 7. The game came out in 2017, with a PS5 version in the works.
