The long-awaited Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update is finally here. The major changes include a rework to cave generation and new creatures like the head-butting goat. Check out the new trailer and a list of the features:

  • Creatures
    • Axolotl
      • Water creatures that spawn in underground water. That can be caught and fight by your side.
    • Goat
      • Spawns on extreme hills. Be aware, they will try to knock you off!
    • Glow Squids
      • When killed they drop Glow Ink Sacs
      • These can be used to craft the new Glow Item Frame
  • Powder Snow
    • This new snow will cause damage with freezing temperatures. To protect yourself, wear leather armor.
  • Glow Lichen
    • A new dim light source that grows on the walls of caves
  • Amethyst Geodes
    • These beautiful geodes make music as you walk on them.
    • New recipes will include amethyst
  • Copper
    • A new basic black that will eventually oxidize when left outside
  • Lightning Rod
    • Keep those wood structure safe with a new Lightning Rod
  • SpyGlass
    • Scope out the area with a new SpyGlass
  • Raw Ore
    • Instead of Iron and alike dropping the whole block, nodes will now drop raw ore. This will give Fortune enchant users a chance to benefit from base ores.
  • Deepslate
    • This is a new black that can be polished or cut for different designs
  • Trades
    • New additional are coming to villagers that include the added cave items
  • Dripstone
    • This is Minecraft’s answer to stalactites and stalagmites. Be careful, if they fall they can damage you.
  • Changes
    • Improved visibility when swimming in underwater caves
    • A new, beautiful main menu panorama for Caves & Cliffs: Part I
    • Updated the appearance of the initial loading screen
    • Compass and Clock item textures have been updated
    • Ore textures have been updated to better differentiate in more ways than just color
    • Added distinct damage sounds for burning, freezing, and drowning
    • Bone Meal now makes a sound when used
    • Drowned now drop Copper Ingots instead of Gold Ingots
