Netflix’s animated Magic the Gathering series casts Brandon Routh for the lead. Routh will be playing a Planeswalker named Gideon Jura. The series is expected to release in 2022.
Brandon Routh is best known for his turn as the Man of Steel in 2006’s “Superman Returns.” Following the one-shot film, he went on to join a series of films like “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.” He dawned a new super suit as Atom in “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” He even portrayed Superman once more in an Arrowverse crossover event. Brandon Routh may not be the most famous Superman, but to many, he’s the best.
Netflix’s Magic the Gathering series will follow two Planeswalkers’ journies. Routh’s Gideon Jura will join Jace Beleren (not yet cast). The Planeswalkers are magical heroes or villains. The pair will reportedly approach each adventure with different opinions.
A prequel novel by Django Wexler will expand the world and set up the story for the series. The book will release alongside the series in 2022.
