China Limits Minor’s Gaming Time

Chinese government regulators are now forcing tech giants to limit children’s online gaming time to three hours a week. Specifically Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8 pm to 9 pm and on holidays. Previously citizens under 18 were allowed to play 1.5 hours each day.

Regulators claim this move is to protect the youth from video game addiction. It’s also part of a wider push back against large tech companies like Tencent and NetEase. According to Verge.com, China’s state media recently released an article calling gaming “spirtual opium.” The latest limits appear to be a ramp-up from the article.

Do you feel gaming should be limited to children under 18 years old? Let us know in the comments!
