Tencent Buys Stakes in Ubisoft

Ubisoft has announced Tencent has acquired a minority share in Guillemot Brother Limited, basically Ubisoft. Tencent is a gaming giant out of china, best known for League of Legends, Path of Exiles, and a slew of popular mobile games. While Ubisoft has major staples like Far Cry, The Division, and Assassin’s Creed, which has been in the news lately with new announcements expected this week. This new investment from Tencent may show the future plans for both companies. Ubisoft could be expanding into the mobile market beyond its current roster.

“We are excited to expand our engagement with the founders, the Guillemot family, as Ubisoft continues to develop immersive game experiences, and to bring some of Ubisoft’s most well-known AAA franchises to mobile.

Martin Lau, President of Tencent

Sounds like Tencent’s focus is on VR and Mobile games. What famed Triple-A title do you think deserves a mobile game adaptation? I personally would like to see a return of the side-scrolling Assassin Creed Chronicles.
