Microsoft has confirmed plans to lay off about 4.5% of its 220,000-person workforce, around 10,000 people. The cuts will affect gaming studios such as Bethesda Game Studios and 343 Industries, the company behind Halo Infinite. HoloLens business and some engineering divisions are also reportedly part of the cuts. According to Bloomberg, some employees at The Coalition, the Vancouver-based studio formed by Microsoft to develop the Gear of War series, are also being laid off. The cuts are due to “macroeconomic conditions and changing customer priorities”, according to Microsoft.
