Barney, the popular purple dinosaur from the 90’s hit show “Barney & Friends,” is set to be relaunched by Mattel later this year. The relaunch will include television, film, and YouTube content, as well as music, kids’ products, and even apparel for adult fans. The new animated series, which has not been titled, is set to debut in 2024 and will be produced by Nelvana for preschool kids. The show will feature the lovable T-rex and friends and focus on themes of love, community, and encouragement. In 2019, Mattel had announced plans for a live-action Barney movie, but it remains unclear how that might factor into the current relaunch.
