Ghostbusters Sequel Officially Underway with First Set Photo Released

Get ready to bust some ghosts once again as the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife has officially begun production in the UK. The film, which is working under the code name ‘Firehouse’, has been teased since the end credits of the latest installment and will be set in the iconic New York City firehouse. Recently, the official Ghostbusters Twitter account posted a photo of director Jason Reitman and writer Gil Kenan on set with a clapperboard and a Ghost Trap, marking the first set photo of the upcoming movie.

Kenan previously confirmed that the team has been working on the sequel’s story even before they finished Afterlife. “We have been crafting this with as much care as it took to build Afterlife into a worthy sequel,” he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. It was also revealed that Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the classic 1984 film, will be returning to reprise his role. Reitman teased that Zeddemore Industries figures strongly into the future of Ghostbusters, leaving fans curious about what’s to come.

In addition to the sequel, Reitman and Kenan are also working on an animated Ghostbusters series for Netflix. They promised that it will take viewers to places they’ve never been before and that they are excited to push the boundaries of what a Ghostbusters story can be. Reitman shared, “An animated series and an animated film will allow us to go deeper into places that Dan Aykroyd talked about when he first talked about Ghostbusters.” It looks like fans of the franchise will have plenty of exciting content to look forward to in the near future.
