The Witcher’s Project Sirius in Trouble

CD Projekt Red has filed an impairment charge and is re-evaluating The Molasses Flood’s upcoming Witcher game, codenamed Sirius. The company has denied scrapping the project altogether and is focusing on aligning it with the strategy of the CD Projekt Group. Sirius was announced in October last year and promised to bring the Witcher universe to an audience beyond fans of the RPG series. The Molasses Flood had ramped up its hiring for the project and would be one of the first developers outside of CD Projekt Red’s core studios to create a Witcher game. The company has a history of scrapping non-CD Projekt Red Witcher games, including a remake that was once in development at French studio Widescreen Games.
