New ‘It’ Will Need a New Pennywise

Stephen King’s It prequel, tentatively titled Welcome to Derry, is highly anticipated by fans of the horror genre. However, the news that Bill Skarsgård, who played the iconic clown Pennywise in the 2017 and 2019 adaptations of the novel, will not be reprising his role has left many wondering who will be cast in his place. Skarsgård, in an interview with Jake’s Takes, advised the potential new actor to “make it your own” and “have fun with it.”

Despite the lack of concrete information about Welcome to Derry, fans are already speculating about which characters from the book will make an appearance in the prequel. With Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane acting as showrunners, there is much anticipation for the series.

It Chapter One received high praise from critics, earning a 9.2/10 from IGN. Director Andy Muschietti’s ability to evoke Stephen King’s signature style of horror was a major factor in the success of the film. However, without Skarsgård’s portrayal of Pennywise, it remains to be seen whether the prequel will be able to live up to the hype generated by the original adaptations.
