Legendary has acquired the film and TV rights to the classic video game Street Fighter and will work with Capcom on future projects. Street Fighter, which has sold 49 million units worldwide, is known for its memorable characters and moves. Hollywood has made previous attempts at adapting Street Fighter, but Legendary’s deal comes as video game adaptations have found recent success. The upcoming release of Street Fighter 6 is due out on June 2, and Legendary has a film distribution deal with Sony. The deal for Street Fighter comes as Paramount’s Sonic, Sony’s Uncharted, and HBO’s The Last of Us have found success in recent years.
