Michelle Yeoh is set to return to the Star Trek franchise as Emperor Philippa Georgiou in a Section 31 movie, according to an announcement from Paramount+. Originally intended to be a series, the project will now take the form of a feature-length film, following Georgiou as she joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with quietly protecting the United Federation of Planets. The movie will also explore the character’s complex past and her efforts to come to terms with her past actions. Craig Sweeny, a writer for Star Trek: Discovery, will pen the script, and Olatunde Osunsanmi, also from Discovery, will direct. Production is set to begin in 2023, and the movie will be released exclusively on Paramount+. While no official premiere date has been announced, fans of Yeoh and the Star Trek franchise are eagerly anticipating this exciting new installment.
