Fans and Cast Unite Around Star Trek: Legacy

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 is said to be the last in the series, but that doesn’t mean the story is over. Showrunner Terry Matalas believes that the original cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation could fly again, but this time in a new series called Star Trek: Legacy. The idea was floated by Matalas himself in a tweet, and both fans and current and former cast members have shown interest. Even Sir Patrick Stewart would be willing to return, although it is doubtful he would be the central focus of the show.

There are already new characters introduced in Picard, such as Jack Crusher, Sidney, and Alanda La Forge, that could be explored further in a new series. The show could also feature other legacy characters like Worf, Will Riker, and Deanna Troi, who still have more stories to tell. Additionally, Seven of Nine and Raffi, who have been fixtures on the show since the first season, could easily support stories without Picard.

While Legacy is just an idea for now, it deserves to be explored further. Fans and critics agree that Star Trek: Picard has been excellent this season, and a return to a more classic The Next Generation adventure is what the franchise needs. A new series set after the events of Picard has a wide open timeline to explore and could serve up long-awaited returns for characters from Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

What do you think of a Star Trek set in the 25th century?
