Top 5 Thanksgiving Movies

Thanksgiving is a time for the family to gather and enjoy yearly traditions. Turkey dinner, the Cowboys game, and Grandpa taking a nap on the couch. After a long day, it’s best to cap things off with a good movie. Here are our Top 5 Thanksgiving Movies.

5. Grumpy Old Men

Acting legends Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are rival old men after the same women. The war between these two friends brings a ton of laughs. There is even a Thanksgiving dinner that quickly goes off the rails.

4. Paul Blart: Mall Cop

One of my favorite traditions is pouring over the Black Friday ads in preparation for the following day. Paul Blart is a fun way to get you in the shopping mood. It follows Blart, the mall cop, as he thwarts a heist in his mall following the Black Friday sales. This is a funny movie the whole family can enjoy.

3. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Charlie Brown has to be the most iconic Thanksgiving movie. The Peanuts gang learn the true meaning of Thanksgiving after Peppermint Patty and friends join “Chuck” for dinner. She ends up berating Charlie for the subpar meal. Later, she realizes she should be grateful for being invited. They all have dinner at Charlie’s grandma’s and end the day as closer friends than ever.

2. Addams Family Values

This movie has the best Thanksgiving scene ever. The kids are sent to a camp where their odd antics put them in charge of a band of misfits. During the Thanksgiving play, they take over the camp and burn down the set. The rest of the movie is a blast. Uncle Fester is seduced by a black widow, while the rest of the family is forced to live in a terrible motel. In the end, they reunite, putting family first.

1. Planes, Trains, and Automobile

A masterpiece of comedy. John Candy and Steve Martin are on a road trip across the country. Steve wants to get to his family by Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, John’s misguided attempts to help prove more harm than good. Their misadventures eventually lead to a new friendship. This film is hilarious and is actually in my Top 5 Comedies as well.

We hope these help you enjoy your holiday a little more. From all of us at Geek Freaks and AEE, Happy Thanksgiving!
