Riot is disabling the “/all” feature in League of Legends games. This feature allowed players to talk to the opposing team during a match. Riot claims the cross-team chat is being used for hate speech and abuse.
“While /all chat can be the source of fun social interaction between teams, as well as some good-hearted banter, right now negative interactions outweigh the positives. We’ll evaluate the impact of this change through verbal abuse reports and penalty rates, as well as surveys and direct feedback from you all.”

The company also shared that team speech is also more negative than intended but the chat is vital for teamwork. Teams can still chat with each other in the post-game rooms. The change is simply a test and may be reverted.
