Dwayne Johnson has announced that Black Adam will not be a part of the first phase of DC’s plans for their multiverse, but that the studio and Seven Bucks Productions, Johnson’s production company, will continue to explore ways to utilize the character in future chapters. This news follows the announcement that Henry Cavill will not be part of the next Superman movie being written by James Gunn, as well as the news that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 has been put on hold. Black Adam, which has grossed over $391 million globally, is currently available to watch on HBO Max.
James Gunn has also been active on Twitter this week, responding to fan reactions to the new DC regime, defending himself against criticism from Justice League star Ray Fisher, and dismissing claims that Gal Gadot has been fired from Wonder Woman 3.
