Disney+ has announced that there will be no second season of Willow, its live-action original series based on the 1988 fantasy film. While the series received positive reviews, it did not have the cultural impact of the original movie. Lucasfilm, which owns the Willow IP, may revisit it in the future. The cancellation comes as Lucasfilm is reassessing its film slate and Disney is curbing streaming content spending to increase profitability. The company has had success with Star Wars TV series on Disney+, including The Mandalorian and upcoming shows like Ahsoka, Acolyte, and Skeleton Crew. Willow featured new characters in a world of mystical creatures, with Warwick Davis reprising his title role.
